The Treatment Optimization of Psychosis Course has developed as a collaborative between Vancouver Coastal Health and BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS for health care professionals in the province of BC to support their continuing medical education needs. This course guides learners in the assessment and management of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders and treatment options, including clozapine. The course offers information applicable to clinical practice and quality patient care. The information contained in this course is consistent with clinical practice guidance for regions, organizations, and clinical care teams within Vancouver Coastal Health, however learners must ensure that they follow the guidance for their specific region and/or organization. Primary care and specialist referral pathways and resources are specific to the Vancouver Coastal Health region. Please ensure that you are familiar with referral pathways and resources if you are outside of this region.

Please note that this course is tailored to health care providers who already have a certain level of psychosis-related knowledge and want to increase their knowledge on the treatment and management of people living with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders. If you find that the course contents are too advanced for you at this time, please review the resources provided within the course for alternative learning materials.

The course is free of charge and has an open enrolment, which allows participants to register at any time during the year. All modules were delivered as live, bi-weekly sessions from June to October, 2021, for the TOP Collaborative. It is estimated that this course will take approximately 10 hours to complete.
