This online learning module is intended for anyone who wants to learn more about advanced approaches for responding to overdoses. It is designed for peers and other people working on the frontlines at overdose prevention sites, supervised consumption sites and/or in outreach.

Learners will develop skills to:

  • Assess and respond to stage 1 (mild), stage 2 (moderate) and stage 3 (severe) overdose situations.
  • Use advanced overdose tools like triangle masks, bag-valve-masks, oxygen, oral airways, and oximeters.
  • Work as a team and respond to severe or unusual overdose presentations.

This course has been developed with and features the experience of peers - people with lived and living experience of substance use - who work at overdose prevention sites in Vancouver.
