AVOID framework is developed by Canadian Frailty Network. This framework is also evidence based, helps prevent and minimize progression of frailty. Pacific Regional Centre of Healthy Aging is working along with Canadian Frailty Network to promote healthy aging in BC. One initiative of PRCHA is to develop an education module that provides evidenced based knowledge and integrates AVOID framework to empower clinical staff. The empowered health care professionals will support and advocate healthy aging. AVOID-based educational modules will provide foundational bite-size knowledge and promote awareness on healthy aging.  The educational module would educate clinicians to use relevant and evidenced-based screening tool and resources that enable early identification and management of frailty.  

Learning objectives of AVOID Based education modules: 

  • Able to define the word Frailty and its consequences. 

  • Able to identify risk factors for Frailty 

  • Able to define Frailty index and Clinical Frailty Scale 


  • Able to quantify frailty level. 

  • To become familiar with AVOID strategy to mitigate frailty. 

  • Able to locate frailty pathways and identify resources to manage frailty.
